Configuring a proxy in Visual Studio 2015

Every now & then, I would get a little message pop-up in Visual Studio telling me that I needed to re-authenticate with the proxy, or proxy authentication required.

This isn’t a massive problem, but it is a minor irritation, so to stop this happening, I found the devenv.exe.config file in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 14.0\Common7\IDE and updated the <> with default proxy settings, as below:

   <defaultProxy enabled="true" useDefaultCredentials="true">
      <proxy bypassonlocal="True" proxyaddress=""/>
      <ipv6 enabled="true"/>

Obviously, the proxyaddress has been modified above to something generic, so you will need to change that to whatever your proxy address is & specify the correct port number.
